Lecture, slide show eyes water changes

“Water and the California Dream,” a lecture and colorful slide show, will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Sonoma State Historic Park, Mission San Francisco Solano, 114 E. Spain St., Sonoma.

Author David Carle will explore water choices that have influenced California’s development and environmental change, and how today’s water decisions will shape its future.

This event is presented by California State Parks in cooperation with the Sonoma-Petaluma State Historic Parks Association.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $10, and $5 for Sonoma-Petaluma State Historic Parks Association members.

Carle is the author of “Introduction to Water in California,” ‘Water and the California Dream,” and “Traveling the 38th Parallel, a Water Line Around the World.” He worked as a California State Park Ranger for 27 years, including two decades at Mono Lake, where he participated in the long battle to protect its unique environment from Los Angeles' stream diversions.
