Temelec history to be highlighted at League event

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Who can’t appreciate history, specifically the amazing history that is the backbone of Sonoma. The League of Historic Preservation is gratified that they can make available to Sonomans a part of that history. The league has just been presented with a series of notebooks with the complete historical background of Temelec Hall.

Temelec Hall was built in 1858 by Captain Granville Perry Swift, a frontiersman and a member of the Bear Flag party, whose great uncle was Daniel Boone.

At 6 p.m., Thursday, May 1, the league will host one of their monthly History Nights by highlighting their recent Temelec bequest.

The person responsible for gathering the facts in their present form, Dr. Billie Hobart, will be present.

In 1996, Temelec Hall was designated as California Historic Landmark 227, and in 2006 was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
