On the heels of getting a near-perfect pitching performance from one senior right-hander, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity baseball boys got a second straight mound masterpiece by another right-handed senior en route to capturing impressive back-to-back Sonoma County League victories.

After Sonoma’s Mitch Hood’s complete-game, one-hit shutout of Piner last Saturday evening at Arnold Field, all-league ace Jimmy Flatt pitched his own one-hit, seven-inning gem, leading the Dragons to a 7-1 SCL road triumph over Healdsburg Tuesday night.

While Flatt was striking out 10 Greyhound batters, Sonoma ran wild on the bases with six steals in eight attempts, led by senior Dan Deely’s three-for-three in thefts, while collecting seven hits, taking advantage of six errors, and scoring in five of seven innings en route to its third SCL win to go with two losses.

Leading the Dragons were senior center-fielder Vinny Albano’s three-for-three with a run scored and one steal; junior CJ Vitale’s double, two runs and a steal; Deely’s double, one run and three steals; sophomore MacLean Meyn’s single and RBI; sophomore Spencer McNairy’s single and run; senior Jack Murphy and junior Kyle Dunevent’s run each; and freshman Carson Snyder’s one steal.

The Sonoma boys will host SCL foe El Molino tonight at 7 p.m. under the Arnold Field lights.
