Anastasia Dedik performs at Vintage House

Russian-American pianist Anastasia Dedik returns to Sonoma on Sunday, April 13, when she performs at Vintage House senior center. Dedik premiered in Sonoma in 2012, thrilling audiences with superb renditions of Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt, for which she received a standing ovation. Dedik is founder and artistic director of the “Russian Heritage” Piano Competition for young pianists in St. Petersburg. She has performed on some of the most important concert stages in the world, including the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C., as well as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and numerous venues around the world.

Dedik will perform an all-Russian program, featuring the Summer Fairy from Prokofiev’s ballet “Cinderella,” Rachmaninov’s Etude-Tableaux Op. 33 in E flat minor and Op. 39 in F sharp minor, selections from Mikhel Pletnev’s arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” and after intermission, Moussorgsky’s monumental “Pictures at an Exhibition,” originally written for piano. The Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club is having another benefit show to help raise funds to add air conditioning to its historic 1912 clubhouse at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Previous benefits have gotten them close to the funds they need and they hope this show will meet their goal. The show is being called “Voices in My Head” and features the men’s a capella choir from Vox Populi. The choir will be accompanied by the Davedjohn Quartet and feature special guests Mark Dennis and Cliff Zyskowski as well as other surprise guests. The choir will perform a variety of songs from the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Sonia Dada and more. Advance tickets can be had by calling 939-6933, or at the door.

Muscardini Cellars in Kenwood is kicking off another season of “Wine Down Fridays” on Friday, April 11, with the Jami Jamison Band on the porch in front of the tasting room from 5 to 7 p.m. The cover charge includes a glass of Muscardini Cellars wine. Light meats, cheese, and crackers are available for purchase or you can bring your own picnic, although no outside beverages are allowed. The event is child- and dog-friendly.

The Annex Wine Bar has Hannah Jern-Miller tonight, April 11, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, it’s Vitamin Girl also for a 7:30 p.m. show. Sunday, April 13, it’s a special show at a special time with the Local Strangers kicking off at 1 p.m. There is no cover for any of the shows but the venue is 21 and over.
