Archbishop Hanna High School teacher Danny Smith and 10 boys recently spent the morning helping out at the Bouverie Preserve as part of their studies in environmental science. In a matter of 2-1/2 hours, the boys and four Bouverie mentors planted roughly 1,000 native grass plugs for a restoration project. The Bouverie also set Hanna Boys Center up with 160 madrone seedlings for its green house. This project is part of an ongoing series of hands-on lessons provided by Bouverie Preserve about seed propagation and activities about soil and the value of restoring land to native plant habitat.
