After a rough spring training ended his stay with the now American League Houston Astros, Sonoma’s Brett Wallace recently agreed to terms with the American League Baltimore Orioles on a minor league contract.

Up and down with Houston for three seasons, last year Wallace hit just .221 with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs for the Astros, and in 14 recent spring-training at bats had only a .143 average. He is currently in Baltimore’s minor league camp at Twin Lakes Park as a corner infielder who will not compete for an Opening Day roster spot this late in camp.

Wallace was a high school (Justin-Siena in Napa) and college (Arizona State University) All-American, who was St. Louis’ first-round draft choice and also played for the Oakland and Toronto organizations before being traded to Houston.
