The Sonoma Valley Regional Library will host the Celtic music of Margaret Miles at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22.
Miles performs a growing repertoire of original songs as well as Celtic and American folk music. She accompanies herself with autoharp, bodrhan (irish drum) and pennywhistle. Her clear soprano voice is extraordinary in its quality and in the evocativeness she lends to the ballads she presents.
She has performed in numerous groups, including the duo “Miles & Miles” and the women’s quintet “Kitchen Cinq” in Sacramento, the Celtic trio “Whiskey Dents,” and the folk-rock band “Jeez Louise” in Plumas County. Inspiring and often humorous, her songs mirror the American singer-songwriter tradition.
Miles lives in Marin County, where she manages the Fairfax Branch Library. She continues to learn and perform traditional music while creating songs of her own, many of which appear on her albums “Candle in the Dark” and “Evergreens and Golden Oaks.”
The library is located at 755 W. Napa St. This program is free and open to the public. It is generously supported by the Friends of the Sonoma Valley Library.
