Earlier this month, Altimira Middle School hosted its annual Career Day. The afternoon was kicked off by keynote speaker Laura Zimmerman, executive director of the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation and former broadcast journalist. All students in grades six to eight then had the chance to choose two different presentations on careers in which they had shown an interest. More than 20 community members stepped forward to present across a wide range of careers, including Sonoma Police Chief Bret Sackett. Other presenters included a veterinarian, a chef, a caterer, a hair stylist, a lawyer, a nurse, a dog trainer, a computer programmer and a dozen more.
