Museum hosts ‘Imagined Spaces’

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art will host a workshop, “Imagined Spaces: Architectural Remix,” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1.

An experiment in concept and material, this workshop is a loose, fun, and creative day. San Francisco artist and designer Nicole Markoff leads participants in taking the remnants of plans unmade and remixing them into a whole new architectural design. Channel inspiration from radical architects like Superstudio, and imagine and meta-morph new landscapes with cutting, pasting, inclusive drawing, and painting. Using source imagery from vintage architecture books, design blueprints, and elevation drafts, participants will consider physical structures, as well as the liminal qualities of converting space.

Inspired by “Site and Senses: The Architecture of Aidlin Darling Design,” the day will begin with a walk through the show and a short image share, and then immediately to the cutting floor and studio workshop.

The workshop fee includes all supplies and admission to the exhibition and is $50 for SVMA members, and $60 for the general public.

The museum is located at 551 Broadway.
