Ravenswood Winery will host a “Fireside Chat” with Joel Peterson and Chris Sawyer from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Ravenswood Tasting Room, 18701 Gehricke Road in Sonoma.

Peterson, often called the “godfather of zinfandel,” will be interviewed by Sawyer.

It’s an evening at the winery with interactive discussion featuring the history of zinfandel and the origin of Ravenswood Winery. The interview will hit highlights of 2013 vintage, what’s in barrel now, as well as looking back and tasting aged zinfandel from California Heritage Vineyards out of magnum. Peterson will discuss terroir, flavor profile, and what makes zinfandel an age worthy wine. Taste, discuss, ask questions, and stay for appetizers paired with Peterson’s selections from the cellar.

In his 38 years as Ravenswood founding winemaker, Peterson has seen a thing or two. Along the way he’s met an amazing amount of folks who hunger for his stories. This night will be your night to ask the questions you’ve always wanted to know. What does that logo mean and what’s behind it?

The cost is $30 a person, $15 for wine club members. Reservations are required Call 933-2336.
