Pianos in the park in Glen Ellen

The Jack London Piano Club’s first concert in a series of piano recitals will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Jack London State Historic Park. The benefit for the park will feature a world premiere of a new composition, “Jack’s Ode to Charmian,” with lyrics from the 1905 love letters Jack London wrote to his future wife Charmian Kittridge. The music for this new composition is by Jud Goodrich, founder of the Jack London Piano Club. Guest vocalist Dr. Ralph Hoyal will sing the new song, and will be accompanied by Goodrich playing Charmian’s grand piano. This will set the seasonal theme for this Piano Club concert celebrating both Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day holidays. Club member pianists performing include John Dinwiddie, Jud Goodrich, Deborah Knapp, Larisa Migachyov, Zina Milyavsky, Esfir Ross and Jim Wittes. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the museum at the park, online at jacklondonpark.com or at the park the day of the event, if available.
