SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s 2013-14 spring sports preseason workouts in six sports – boys’ baseball, girls’ softball, boys’ tennis and golf, boys’ and girls’ track and field, and boys’ and girls’ swimming – officially begin on Monday, Feb. 10. Students who want to participate in Sonoma’s 2014 spring sports programs need to have all their paperwork and mandatory current physical examinations completed before the official opening of preseason practices for that sport. Forms and paperwork for the spring Dragons are available at the SVHS student activities office Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS Sonoma Valley are holding registration for youth T-ball and coach-pitch baseball for boys and girls ages 4 to 8 years old until Feb. 14. Cost is $70 for club members and $190, including $120 for club membership, for non-club members. To sign up or for more details, call athletic director Peter Livingston at 938-8544, ext. 112, or email dkilgore@bgsonoma.org.

SONOMA VALLEY BABE Ruth Baseball Association will hold registration for all players 13-to-15-years-old on or before April 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, and Thursday, Feb. 6, in the Multipurpose Room at Arnold Field, 250 First St. W., and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Arnold Field snack bar. Any new player to Babe Ruth must furnish an original-sealed birth certificate, which will be returned upon inspection by a league officer at the sign-ups. Cost for the 2014 season is $195 a player, and the league also requires each family to work a snack-bar shift during the season and a second check for $100 is needed as a snack-bar deposit. This is a refundable check that will be returned after a snack-bar shift is worked. SVBR is still accepting letters of intent, including a resume of coaching experience, to manage or coach during the 2014 season, and should forward letters to S.V.B.R., P.O. 2113, Sonoma, CA 95476. Babe Ruth tryouts are slated for 9 a.m. on two Sundays, March 2 and 9. For more information about Babe Ruth baseball, contact Mario Alioto at 318-6945.
