Robert Lee Nobles

Robert Lee Nobles, 83, born Dec. 2, 1929, in Evergreen, Ala., to Clarence and Inez Nobles, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in Sonoma.

After serving in the Navy, Bob and his family moved to California, where he worked at Parker Robb Chevrolet in Walnut Creek. In 1975, he purchased St. Laurent Chevrolet, later to become Bob Nobles Chevrolet. The dealership was awarded Business of the Year in 2002.

He was known for his generosity and community service. Bob donated a car yearly to Sonoma Valley High School Grad Night. He supported all youth activities in the Valley and coached his grandson’s Little League baseball team.

Bob was a bit of a local celebrity, starring often with his grandchildren in TV commercials for the dealership. He was an avid golfer and sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Pauline; brother, Clarence; daughter, Shirley Satterfield; and son, Randy. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his five children and many grandchildren. Bob (“Gramps”) will be missed by most who met him, and forever in our hearts.
