What to do with Truck and Auto site

Editor’s note: A recent public meeting soliciting citizen input on development of the former Sonoma Truck and Auto site, on Broadway at MacArthur Street, has produced a variety of suggestions, some of them posted on the Index-Tribune website. We present some of those comments below in hopes they will stimulate further discussion.

Likes Oxbow Market model

Glad to see there is discussion about this. Even though I didn’t agree with Larry Barnett’s failed Measure B, I really like his ideas for this location. It would be tragic if it was developed into a Walgreens/Traders Joe’s or rental housing.

An Oxbow Market-like venture (as in Napa), or a Barlow (as in Sebastopol) is much needed and would be a welcomed addition to town. Perhaps Crisp, and some of the other little retail treasures, could all take up shop space and create a great community gathering place to eat/drink and relax, whether you are local or tourist.

Broadway is our entry to town and it should reflect uniqueness and quality projects that you can’t find in every town or city.
