An Oakland man was killed at about 6 p.m. Friday in Glen Ellen when he was thrown off his tractor and then run over by it.
According to a statement from Sgt. Spencer Crum with the Sonoma Police Department, the 38-year-old man, who was an independent contractor, was moving dirt in a dry pond in the 12000 block of Henno Road. The man wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and was thrown off the tractor when the front scraper hit the ground. He was then run over by the tractor. Crum said another employee, who was also working in the area, saw the incident.
The man was dead when rescue personnel reached him.
Crum said the Sheriff's Office is withholding the victim’s name pending notification of kin. The accident is being investigated by the California Department of Occupational Safety and Health as a work-related death.
