I want to thank Roger Hartley for his Jan. 7 Op-Ed stating that the BAAQMD deserves closer scrutiny and analysis – even if his point makes me grudgingly accept that my husband may have been “right.”
After the recent plethora of spare the air days , my husband asked me, “who are these people and where do they get their data?” We were also disturbed by the recent article that Sonoman’s flout (or flaunt) no burn days, which implied the “correct” course of action was to report your neighbor anonymously for burning wood.
We are good “eco-citizens,” we recycle, compost, buy local, yada, yada, yada. The perhaps unwarranted, over-regulation by the BAAQMD is giving me eco-fatigue. They make me almost want to put another log on the fire, throw some plastic bottles into stream beds and buy leaded paint.
