Dragon boys fall to Huntington Park

It was a rough go for Sonoma Valley High School's varsity basketball boys at last weekend’s annual Marin Catholic Tournament in Kentfield, where they faced four tough opponents and didn’t have a win to show for their efforts.

After falling 60-43 to Lincoln of San Francisco, 56-38 to Arcata, and 64-34 to Napa, the Dragons dropped a 54-43 decision to Huntington Park (Southern California) in their fourth and final tourney game on Monday.

Pacing Sonoma were senior Vinny Albano’s 16 points, six rebounds and two assists; junior Ryan Fisher’s nine points; junior Cyle Gusse’s eight points, eight rebounds, five steals and two assists; junior Ryan Wilbanks’ five points and three rebounds; senior Jesse Summers’ three points; and senior Jack Murphy’s two points and four rebounds.

The Dragons play at nonleague Windsor tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 4, before tipping off their Sonoma County League season at Healdsburg this Tuesday, Jan. 7, followed by SCL games at Petaluma and El Molino on Jan. 11 and 14, respectively, before hosting Piner on Thursday, Jan. 16.
