Sonoma struggles in Marin Catholic tourney

Battling an array of tough teams in the always challenging annual Marin Catholic Tournament over the weekend in Kentfield, Sonoma Valley High School's varsity basketball boys were handed three straight one-sided losses.

Facing Lincoln of San Francisco in last Thursday's tournament opener, the Dragons dropped a 60-43 decision, then fell 56-38 to Arcata on Friday, before being defeated 64-34 by Napa on Saturday.

Sonoma’s boy cagers played Huntington Park (Southern California) in their fourth and final tourney game yesterday, with the results of the game, and the statistics from their three losses, not available at presstime.

The Dragons play their final nonleague game at Windsor this Saturday, Jan. 4, before tipping off their SCL campaign at Healdsburg on Tuesday, Jan. 7, followed by league road games at Petaluma and El Molino on Jan. 11 and 14, respectively, before returning home to host league foe Piner on Thursday, Jan. 16.
