As 2013 comes to a close, Sonoma Raceway is set for the arrival of the 2014 Big O Tires racing season, with its major events schedule opening in mid-May, preceded by some early drag-racing and a charity event on the Valley road course.
The 13-race Summit ET Bracket Drag Racing Series season kicks off at Sonoma Raceway on Jan. 5, with the popular Wednesday Night Drags, including the “Top the Cops” program, running from March 5 to Nov. 12.
On Saturday, Jan. 18, the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities – the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway – will host its inaugural Laps for Charity event at the Valley’s famous road course, with all the proceeds benefitting kids in need through Sonoma County youth organizations.
This unique experience, costing $100, will include pre-lap instruction with professional racing instructors, three lead-follow laps around the 12-turn, 2.52-mile circuit and a picture of your car on the track.
A limited number of spots in half-hour increments are currently available between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. the day of the event. Participants must be 18 years old or older, and passengers will not be permitted.
