Design Review Commission to look at signage, structures

The Sonoma Design Review and Historic Preservation Commission will consider signage for businesses occupying historic buildings on the Plaza, plus an addition and new construction adjacent to historic buildings when it meets today, Tuesday, Dec. 17. It will also review sign and building colors for the Dutch Bros. coffee at the Hot Shots site, 711 Broadway.

The commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at 177 First St. W.

Signage to be reviewed is for Coldwell Banker Brokers of the Valley at 34 W. Spain St., Schein and Schein Old Maps at 149 E. Spain St., and new sign and awnings for Grandma Linda’s Ice Cream (formerly Ben and Jerry’s) at 408 First Street East.

The addition to a historic building is for 663 Second St. E., proposed by Sid Hoover, and the new building for which CEQA confirmation has been requested is at 157 W. Spain St. behind a craftsman bungalow.

Finally, the color scheme and sign for the new Dutch Bros. Coffee will also be considered. The business was approved by the Planning Commission Thursday, with the caveat that the color scheme must be compatible with the historic character of Sonoma.
