B.R. Cohn concert distributes $200K

In an annual holiday tradition, philanthropist, manager and concert promoter Bruce Cohn distributed more than $200,000 on Dec. 5 to an eclectic variety of nonprofits during a reception at the B.R. Cohn Winery Tasting Room in Glen Ellen.

The donations represented the proceeds from the 27th annual B.R Cohn Charity Events Fall Music Festival, held in September at the winery amphitheater, and brought the concert total raised to date for area charities to more than $6 million.

Donation recipients included the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, the Redwood Empire Food Bank, the Field of Dreams, the Station Foundation (Veterans), the Guardsmen, American Legion Post 489, Valley of the Moon Aquatics, the Sonoma Developmental Center, Native Sons of the Golden West and others.

Cohn called this year’s concert “an incredible weekend.” Despite hard rain on Saturday of the three-day event, he said “we are very pleased with the fundraising totals which could not have been possible without the extraordinary support from all the artists who performed, the hard-working staff, the many volunteers as well as our charity and media partners.”

Cohn noted that, “Not one person asked for a refund due to the rain. That’s a testament to our fine team and the charity of our concert goers.”
