Shaking off the tournament title-game loss in their own Dragon Classic last Saturday in Pfeiffer Gym, Sonoma Valley High School’s varsity basketball girls traveled to Lafayette on Tuesday and returned home with their fourth nonleague win to go with two losses on the young season.

After defeating Terra Linda and Menlo-Atherton in their Dragon Classic, before falling to Northgate in the championship game, the Lady Dragons turned in solid defensive and rebounding – by a 39-23 margin – efforts Tuesday evening, which anchored their 46-38 victory over Acalanes.

Leading Sonoma to the win were junior Delaney Swanson’s double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds; junior Mackenzie Albrecht’s double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds to go with four steals; junior Alexa Hall’s 11 points with three treys and four rebounds; senior Giana Monterosso’s two points, three rebounds and three steals; and two points each by juniors Hanna Lemaire and Laryssa Baker, and sophomore Bella Bollman.

The Lady Dragons are currently competing in Miramonte’s Mats Tournament in Orinda, where they faced Clayton Valley Charter in last night’s opening round – results not available at presstime – and play Arcata at 4:30 p.m. today, before battling Foothill at 12:45 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 14.
