We had a few random emails and texts about what happened to last week’s column. Glad someone reads it, and thanks!
We actually took a vacation, a real vacation, and managed to combine wine, food and music into it all and in the Caribbean, where we were and had fully intended on submitting a column, there was no Internet, cell phone access or anything else, and so there was no column. What were we doing in the Caribbean? As the bass player for the John Burdick Band, we managed to land a gig on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, and shared the stage with the likes of Kenny Loggins, Three Dog Night, Nestor Torres and the World Classic Rockers, a tribute act made up of former members of acts that are still actually touring. Brilliant if you ask us. Also on the trip were local chefs Catherine Venturini from Olive and Vine and John Ash, along with local winemaker Squire Fridell and many more. Needless to say, a good time was had by all.
But that was last week. We’re entering the slow time of the year for live music, but Sonoma Valley still has plenty of options this weekend. Let’s run them down here.
The Erik James Tasting Room has music tonight, Nov. 22, with Lisa Kindred and Austin deLone, kicking off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, it’s Macy Blackman’s Praline Trio, also for a 7 p.m. show. There is no cover any night.
The Annex Wine Bar has Judy Williams and Friends tonight, Nov. 22, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, it’s Jaydub and Dino, also starting at 7:30 p.m. There is no cover either night.
