The Sonoma City Council will consider a new fee schedule at its meeting Monday. The schedule, which hasn’t been updated since 2008, may have a few surprises.
“Because of staff efficiencies in some areas, a few fees are actually going down,” said City Manager Carol Giovanatto. But many others are going up with each fee evaluated on an individual basis. Giovanatto hopes to examine the fee schedule each year, so increases, if any, are minor.
Other items on the agenda include adoption of amended construction codes, consideration of the Valley of the Moon Nursery School lease (the school operates from a building the city owns on Mission Terrace), and approval of a contract with a realtor to find a buyer for the old fire station property at 32 Patten St. The latter item will be done by the council as the Successor Agency to the former redevelopment agency. Once approved, this contract will be considered by the Oversight Board made up of representatives of all taxing agencies in the city.
The council will also hear presentations by the Redwood Empire Municipal Insurance Fund, the insurance consortium to which the city belongs.
Rounding out the evening will be an early presentation on Shop Sonoma, in honor of the upcoming holiday season.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Community Meeting Room at 177 First St. W.
