Fall is in the air, and the Sonoma Men’s Golf Association and Sonoma Valley Golf Club are getting ready to wrap up their 2013 seasons.
In their penultimate event of the year, the SMGA traveled to Bennett Valley Golf Club on Sunday, Nov. 3, for its annual Appreciation Day Tournament.
Leading the way with a fine 123 total were Nate Reynes, John Ervin, Don Roesch and Kay Groft; one-shot back in second place were Woody Frink, Steve MacCarthy, Greg Schult and Roger Rannikar; while Ian Tervet, Pat Connolley, John Dennis and Bob Jennings carded a 127 for third place; and rounding out the top five were Jack Harding, Tony Enz, and Jim Lybrand, and Al Rappoport, Karl Mayer, Dick Munter and John Bogardus with 130 and 131 totals, respectively.
In closest to the pin action, Schult took home the prize on the sixth hole with a shot to 13 feet, 9 inches, while no one could conquer the long and demanding No. 8.
Phil Rollins made the most of the par-3s on the back nine, claiming both with a shot to 5-4 on the 11th, and to 9-9 on the 15th.
