The band, Family of the Year will be performing at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, Nov. 8, at Gundlach Bundschu’s rustic Old Redwood Barn in Sonoma.

Family of the Year are a L.A.-based band that has garnered heavy radio airplay and much attention over the course of two albums and four EPs.

The band describes its sound as an eclectic mix of pianos, horns, acoustic guitars and other assorted instrumentation that achieves a sophisticated – yet playful and catchy – indie-rock sound and counts among its influences classic pop bands like the Smiths, the Byrds, Fleetwood Mac and the Go-Betweens.

San Francisco’s Bonnie and the BANG BANG, who mix a folk sensibility with dark pop, will also perform.

Both Family of the Year and Bonnie and the BANG BANG appeared at this year’s BottleRock Napa Valley music festival.

The Old Redwood Barn is an intimate and charming historic setting that has played host to the Fruit Bats, Dinosaur Jr., a punk rock fashion show, Art vs. Science, Ra Ra Riot, The Givers and had its walls shaken by a hard rock band out of Venice, named the Shrine.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show at 7. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and available via and ticketfly.

The winery is located at 2000 Denmark St., Sonoma. Details
