Celebrating Dia de los Muertos

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art hosted a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration and invited people to make altars to remember their loved ones.

Sylvia Santoyo passes out information on domestic violence at an altar dedicated to the memory of Maria Teresa Macias who was killed by her husband. Luis Miranda’s father, Roberto Miranda, displays a tattoo dedicated to his son. Luis Miranda’s parents made an altar dedicated to his memory. Fifth graders at El Verano made traditional Mexican paper images. And Brenda Serrano made an altar for her first dog, Charlie.
