DUI suspected in fatal Arnold Drive wreck

One person was killed and three others suffered major injuries as the result of a collision Tuesday evening on Arnold Drive near Meadowlark Lane.

The highway was closed for more than two hours after the 7 p.m. wreck.

According to Officer Anna Paulson, with the California Highway Patrol, said Damodar Chandradas, 25, of San Francisco, was driving a 1997 Jaguar southbound on Arnold Drive. Witnesses told the CHP that Chandradas passed some vehicles and veered back into the southbound lane. Chandradas was traveling on the southbound shoulder when he veered back across the lane and into the northbound lane where it collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Gustavo Adolfo Mejia, 26, of Greenbrae.

Paulson said Mejia’s 1994 Toyota Corolla hit Chandradas’s Jaguar on the passenger’s side, after which both vehicles spun out of control.

Chandradas sustained what were described as major injuries and was air-lifted to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. A passenger in Chandradas’ vehicle, a 26-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office isn’t releasing the identity pending notification of next of kin.
