A representative of HICAP, (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) will discuss open enrollment changes, the Affordable Care Act and Medicare from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Vintage House senior center.

The annual election period is from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, and allows participants to join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage Plan (Plan C) or a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). Sonoma’s Senior Advocacy Services encourages all Medicare Beneficiaries to review coverage for 2014. This once yearly presentation offers an opportunity to hear new information and answer questions participants may have about what to do if they are new to Medicare, need low income assistance, and how to protect themselves from Medicare fraud. Participants should bring their Medicare and other insurance ID cards for helpful clues. Come with questions and to get more information. Handouts will be provided.

This conversation and sharing of resources is open to the community and is free of charge.
