Sonoma girl golfers end at SCL, netters rip Elsie, spikers sweep El Mo

For Sonoma Valley High School’s girls’ golf and tennis teams, their Sonoma County League campaigns reached the final week, with the netters winning in a home rout of Elsie Allen, while the golfers ended their season at the SCL championships.

Playing the SCL finals tournament on Monday at the Oakmont East Golf Course in Santa Rosa, the Lady Dragon golfers had a fifth-place team finish with an overall 18-hole score of 571, finishing ahead of Piner, while Analy won the SCL title with a 487, followed by Healdsburg’s 488, Petaluma’s 496, and El Molino’s 505.

For Sonoma, senior Jacquie Peterson posted a fine individual seventh-place 18-hole round of 98 in what turned out to be her final match after falling five strokes short of advancing to the North Coast Section qualifier.

Other individual results for the Lady Dragons, who were directed by longtime coach Tom Hickerson, include sophomore Kaylin Riebli’s 108, sophomore Callie Hogan’s 113, sophomore Lucy Houghton’s 125, sophomore Anna De Smet’s 127, and sophomore Isabel Garon’s 135, which was sixth best on the team and did not tally into the final score.

Rounding out Sonoma’s golf roster was junior Paige Knef.
