Editor, Index-Tribune:

Are you curious about the history of Mission San Francisco Solano? It was built in 1823 and is the most northern of the 21 Franciscan Missions of Alta California, and the only one built under Mexican Government rule. Would you like to meet visitors to Sonoma and spend time explaining the Mission’s exhibits and history to them? Then why not become a docent at Mission San Francisco Solano?

Two full days of training is provided and will be held in Sonoma on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20. The training is free and is sponsored by California State Parks in cooperation with Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks Association.

To sign up for the training, please contact Supervising Ranger, Vincent Anibale at 938-9553, or email him at vincent.anibale@parks.ca.gov.

I can attest to the joys and satisfaction of being a State Parks docent. Why not take the training and share your newfound knowledge with others. You will be glad you did.
