Sonoma swept in both soccer, tennis

At the midway point of the Sonoma County League season, the two frontrunners, Sonoma Valley High School varsity soccer boys and defending champion Analy, hadn’t even played after their first match in Sonoma was postponed when the referees didn’t show up.

But, finally, Wednesday night in Sebastopol the first meeting of the SCL-unbeaten longtime rivals took place and Analy survived a fierce battle with the visiting Dragons and took advantage of two second-half mistakes by scoring twice off a pair of long passes and pulling out a 3-1 win.

Scoring the lone goal for Sonoma was senior Andy Chávez.

The Dragon boys return home in second place and will host SCL rival Healdsburg at 4 p.m. today on the high school field.
