The Marin School, formerly of Sausalito, celebrated its grand opening in its new location in San Rafael on Sept. 7. Currently, three Sonoma students, freshmen Jeanne Favaro and Adam Hodges and senior Reed Hammett (back), attend the school. Founded in 1981, The Marin School is a fully-accredited, independent college-preparatory high school that offers small class sizes (eight on average) and low student to teacher ratio (7 to 1 on average). According to Shirey Bukowski, director of Admissions, “Creativity is encouraged and embraced at all levels of the learning process, in the classrooms and across disciplines.” Currently, the school offers a shuttle service to and from Petaluma. To learn more about The Marin School, local students are invited to attend an open house at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, or at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. There is also a Sonoma admissions reception at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, here in town. To attend any of these events or to arrange a tour, call 415-339-9336, ext. 104, or marinschool.org.
