The popular “pop-up dinner” craze – where fantastical dinner parties seemed to sprout from thin air – comes to Sonoma for the first time on Oct. 19. The dinner, which can be prepared at home or purchased from Sondra Bernstein of the Girl and the Fig, will benefit the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance.
The night will be hosted by Hand Made Events, which produced a similar Le Dîner à San Francisco (attended by 5,400 people in 2012), the PopUp Dinner San Diego (held on Aug. 10 with more than 2,000 diners) and the PopUp Dinner L.A, held on Sept. 7 with more than 1,500 guests).
“An all-white dress code, and a hush-hush location and you’ve got Hand Made Events, whose enormous pop-up picnics are like the polished, hipster version of the ’60s hippie be-ins," wrote Sunset Magazine.
The “PopUp Dinner Wine Country – Evening in White,” a French-inspired event, will celebrate the simple pleasure of good food, good wine, old friends and the art of dining elegantly and grandly in one the Sonoma’s beautiful outdoor settings, which will remain a secret until tickets are purchased.
Guests must all wear white to keep with the night’s theme. Each guest brings their own dinner party, food and beverage, organizers only provide tables and chairs and live entertainment for dining and dancing. The Girl and the Fig will be providing catered dinner basket options along with wine pairings for those who prefer not to cook, which can be purchased by contacting the restaurant.
Tickets are $35 (not including food) and available at eventbrite.com/event/7521361595.
A portion of proceeds will go to the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance.
