With three nonleague games, including two wins and one loss, under their belts, Sonoma Valley High School's varsity football team and first-year head coach Bob Midgley will open their Sonoma County League season facing a major challenge with the defending champion visiting the Valley.

Coming off their bye weekend, the Dragons will host longtime rival Analy (3-1 record) in their SCL opener this Friday, Sept. 27, at Arnold Field, with the junior varsity contest starting at 5, and the varsity kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.

Comprising the 2013 Sonoma varsity football team – directed by head coach Midgley and assistant coaches Justin Weaver, Damien Magnani and Max Pond – are seniors Hank Anderson, Austin Bailey, JJ Bollman, Dante Chipchase, Todd Decendario, Joe Decker, Dan Deely, Mitch Hood, Cordell Kenniston, Kyler Fritz, Jake Lantz, Wyatt Lennon, Dario Minatta, Ed Pomeroy, Matt Robinson, Jose Rubio, Brandon Santana and Jose Valencia; juniors Andre Alcantar, Noe Baron, Gabe Bernstein, Jack Biaggi, Vince Caruso, Kyle Dunevent, Nick Fantozzi, Cyle Gusse, Alex Gustafson, Graham Herder, Cedric Hernandez, Jackson Keechler, Derek Lewis, Jacob Little, Tristan Mertens, Dominc Sanfilippo, Mike Seelye, Mark Shipston, Luke Vaughn and Trevor Welch; and sophomore Sam Cordano.
