The Sonoma Valley Economic Development Partnership of the City of Sonoma and the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts the seventh annual “Tops in Sonoma” breakfast forum 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Sonoma Golf Club.

The breakfast event will recognize the largest tax generators and employers in Sonoma Valley, and the vital contributions of these businesses to our community with a celebratory station-style banquet breakfast including eggs benedicts, smoked salmon and other specialties from the Sonoma Golf Club culinary team.

Steve Falk, CEO of Sonoma Media Investments will be the featured speaker. Falk became CEO of Sonoma Media Investments, LLC, in December 2012. SMI was created to acquire the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Petaluma Argus-Courier, Sonoma Index-Tribune, North Bay Business Journal, SONOMA Magazine and a dozen affiliated websites, reaching almost all Sonoma County households.

Previously Falk was president and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, recognized as the city’s pre-eminent business organization for advocacy, networking and economic growth. With 2,000 members, the chamber represents morethan 250,000 employees from every business sector and geography of the city. Before joining the chamber in 2005, Falk had extensive experience in the newspaper industry, including 18 years with the San Francisco Chronicle.

He was most recently the publisher and president of the Chronicle and previously the president and CEO of the San Francisco Newspaper Agency, a joint operating agreement that published both the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Examiner.

The event will also provide Economic Outlook Reports from Sonoma City Manager Carol Giovanatto on contributions of local business to city services and Laurie Decker, Sonoma Valley Economic Development Partnership Manager, on the results of the 2013 Business Survey and local economic trends and opportunities.

Special presentations to the 2013 Sonoma Valley Business of the Year, Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa will also be made.
