Can you sing? Ever wanted to sing in a chorale? Well, now’s your chance. The Sonoma Valley Chorale is beginning practice sessions for the upcoming season and rehearsal starts on Monday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building. The El Verano Inn has an interesting act on Saturday, Sept. 7, which consists of a combo of musical veterans from the ’60s and ’70s. These guys have played with some of the biggest names in rock ‘n’ roll, and hence the name: the Former Members. The act includes Greg Douglass who played with Steve Miller, Greg Kihn, Eddie Money, Van Morrison and Hot Tuna. Roy Blumenfeld spent time with the Blues Project, Chuck Berry, Paul Butterfield, Robert Hunter, Seatrain and the Electric Flag. David B Cohen had stints with Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles, Country Joe and the Fish and Huey Lewis. Bruce Barthol played with Country Joe and the Fish, Pete Seager, Rosalie Sorrels and more. The show kicks off at 9 p.m. and there is no cover.
Murphy’s Irish Pub has the Sonoma Mountain Band tonight, Sept. 6, for an 8 p.m. show. Saturday, Sept. 7, the pub welcomes Andrew Freeman, also for an 8 p.m. show. Sunday, Sept. 8, it’s an early show with Sean Carscadden and Marty O’Reilly kicking off at 7:30 p.m. There is no cover for any of the shows.
The Annex Wine Bar has J. Kevin Durken, tonight, Sept. 6, for his debut at annex, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, it’s Sean Carscadden and Cliff Hugo, playing as a duo. That show also starts at 7:30 p.m. There is no cover either night.
HopMonk Tavern Sonoma welcomes Jeff Campbell tonight, Sept. 6, to the tavern stage for an 8:30 p.m. show. Saturday, Sept. 7, the tavern has the David Thom Band on the garden stage for a 1 p.m. show and Solid Air inside on the tavern stage at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, the garden stage presents the Gypsy Jazz Caravan, for a 1 p.m. show. There is no cover for any of the shows.
Hear 5 a.m. at the Sebastiani Winery and Vineyards tonight, Sept. 6, starting at 6 p.m. The venue is family- and dog-friendly and there is no cover, but no outside alcohol is allowed, even beer.
Muscardini Cellars continues the “Wine Down Friday” series with the Rett Hamer Blues Band on the porch outside the tasting room in Kenwood tonight, Sept. 6, kicking off at 5 p.m.
“Funky Fridays” presents the grand finale of the season at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park tonight, Sept. 6, with an appearance by A Case of the Willys. This Sonoma county act performs a wide range of musical styles including rhythm ‘n’ blues and soul with a special emphasis on raw funk.
