Dragons manage only two hits against Analy

After opening their Sonoma County League season with a runaway victory, Sonoma Valley High School’s varsity baseball boys hoped to deliver an early title-quest challenge to the defending SCL champs in Friday night’s showdown at Arnold Field.

Unfortunately, the Dragons delivery was rejected by reigning champion Analy, who looked and played sharp on the field and returned to Sebastopol with a 5-0 win behind southpaw Evan Hill’s two-hit shutout.

With nearly no offensive support and four errors leading to four unearned runs, senior Mitch Hood, who yielded only seven hits, took the pitching loss for Sonoma, which mustered only a single each by Hood and senior Dan Deely.

The Dragons, who beat Elsie Allen 10-0 in last Wednesday's opener, play at longtime league rival Petaluma today, before hosting SCL foe Piner at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Arnold Field.
