Library seeks volunteers for literacy program

The Adult Literacy Program of the Sonoma County Library is looking for adult volunteer tutors in Sonoma.

The volunteers will work at the local Sonoma Valley Regional Library teaching adults how to read and write English. The program is learner centered and designed to help the adult students achieve their personal literacy goals. There is no cost to the tutors or students and a wide variety of teaching materials are provided.

An orientation meeting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Santa Rosa Central Library, 211 E St., Santa Rosa.

No registration is necessary for the orientation. The mandatory tutor training will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, and registration will be handled at the orientation meeting.

For further information, call Melissa Trunick, tutor coordinator, at 545-0831, ext. 1573 or visit the website at sonomalibrary.org/literacy.
