Dunbar kicks off fund drive for ‘Melodrama’

Dunbar School is kicking off the 22nd season of the fifth-grade Melodrama Project.

Auditions have been held, casting is complete, and rehearsals are have started. Organizers are thrilled to have Kate Kennedy contracting with the school once again – this will be her 12th year as director of the fifth-grade play. This year, the school will once again experience “Deadwood Desperado, or, A Mother’s Grief” and as has become tradition, the performances will be held on Memorial Day weekend out under the majestic oak trees surrounding Dunbar’s Haver Stage.

As always, alumni will be heavy in attendance reminiscing about their theatrical debut, perhaps having played Blackn’ Redburn, Sheriff Crabtree, Poker Alice, La Paloma, or maybe having participated in the beloved Sound Squad.

This month, the school is kicking off a capital campaign for the Melodrama Project to help (re)develop some of the costumes, sets, and the sound system, and thereby launch it into this next decade of the school’s beloved tradition.

Anyone who would like to make a donation (of any size), organizers would be most appreciative. Checks can made out to Dunbar School Fifth-Grade Play and dropped off at the school office or mailed to 11700 Dunbar Rd. Glen Ellen, CA 95442
