SCC workshop to explore experimental printmaking

Sonoma Community Center will host a workshop in experimental printmaking with Anne Beck of the Lost Coast Culture Machine from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22 and 23.

Emphasizing experimentation in multiple making, this hands-on studio workshop will introduce students to polyester plate lithography, non-photo screen printing, and transfer and stenciling techniques. These practices will then be combined and layered to create unique mono prints or a small edition. All processes are non-toxic. All levels are welcome.

Located in Fort Bragg, Lost Coast Culture Machine is an artist-run contemporary art space and handmade paper mill with a focus on interdisciplinary and sustainable creative practice. LCCM was featured in a 2011 New York Times piece on the Mendocino Coast.

For complete details, and to register, call the Sonoma Community Center at 938-4626, ext. 1. Register by Feb. 19.

Sonoma Community Center’s arts education program includes painting, figure drawing, ceramics, jewelry making, multimedia art, music, culinary, and personal development classes as well as open studios in figure drawing, printmaking, and ceramics.
