The Duhks, Jaime Kyle take SCC’s Rotary Stage

The Sonoma Community Center’s 2014 Winter Concert Series continues this weekend on the Rotary Stage with the Duhks on Friday and Jaime Kyle on Saturday.

On Friday, Feb. 14, the Duhks come to the Rotary Stage in Andrews Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. At a glance, the Duhks seem to be an old-time country string band. But on closer inspection, this “neo-folk” act incorporates such diverse styles as soul, gospel, zydeco, Irish dance music and even Brazilian samba.

Their mastery of various folk influences is what makes the Duhks (pronounced “ducks”) a favorite among such superstars as David Crosby and Dolly Parton. And the upbeat tunes and soulful stylings of vocalist Jesse Havey could make this a perfect Valentine’s Day show for Sonoma Valley lovers.

The next night, Saturday, Feb. 15, Nashville recording artist and songwriter Jaime Kyle comes to Andrews Hall. Described as a “triple threat,” Kyle has sold an unbelievable 19 million CDs, and her recordings have been featured in several motion pictures.

Kyle says she is “in love with melodies, music and lyrics of all styles,” and her singer-songwriter numbers reflect this diversity. She will be performing with Dave Jenkins, the lead guitarist and vocalist for Pablo Cruise. Show starts at 7:30 p.m.
