Museum hosts party for new volunteers

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art is actively looking for engaging, enthusiastic, and friendly folks to join its crew of volunteers.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m., the museum is holding a Volunteer Appreciation Party for its current volunteers, and inviting community members to join in and learn about the many fun and educational opportunities available for new volunteers. Admission is free; wine and appetizers will be served, with music by Dawn Angelosante. Prospective volunteers will also have a chance to view the current exhibition – “Site & Senses: The Architect of Aidlin Darling Design.”

Meet the museum staff and volunteers, and learn how to get involved with the front desk reception team, its programs and events, and assisting with the studio program – all critical roles in keeping the museum community-centered and operating smoothly. Some of the benefits of volunteering include opportunities to interact with exhibiting artists, learn about art and art history, and meet like-minded peers in your community.

“Volunteering is a great way to experience the museum at another level and make a real difference in the organization. SVMA’s volunteers are such a fun, outgoing and dedicated bunch, and the more who join, the better the museum becomes for everyone,” said Margie Maynard, director of Education and Public Programs.

For more information about volunteer opportunities at Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, contact museum associate and volunteer coordinator Nicole Grimes at ngrimes@svma.

SVMA is a magnet of creative energy and cultural inspiration. Its exhibitions and educational programs engage the community in the art and ideas of our time, encouraging curiosity and innovation.
