Sportsmen’s Expo in Sacramento is open

The annual Sportsmen’s Expo in Sacramento opened yesterday (Thursday) and runs through Sunday, Jan. 12. This huge event for outdoor folks takes place at the Cal Expo grounds. Tickets are $15 for adults, and children under 16 years old and active duty military personnel are free.

It’s like a candy store for hunters, anglers, hikers and campers.  There are 600 companies with exhibits in five separate buildings and outdoor spaces, including fishing and hunting outfitters and guides; fishing tackle and gear; boats, motors and marine accessories; travel, vacation, lodges and resorts; RVs and campers; outdoor apparel; mountain living furnishings; wildlife art; trucks, trailers, UTVs, ATVs, and more. There is 20,000 square feet devoted to youth.

Special features include a 3D pop-up archery range; RMEF great elk tour; Eastman’s trophy deer display; sporting-dog arena; RMEF adventure theater; ultimate bass aquarium; fly casting pond; a 300-foot hipline ride; and the list goes on.

The Expo is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
