Man attacks family with car

Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the 10 block of Meadowbrook Avenue at about 3:35 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, after receiving a report that a man had threatened to shoot a woman and her children, and that he then tried to run them down. The victim told deputies that she had no relationship with the man, Samuel Macias, 51, of El Verano, and that that morning, while her 6-year-old son was at the bus stop, Macias started calling the youngster names, throwing rocks at him and threatening to shoot her and her children. When she picked her son up at the bus stop that afternoon, she heard a vehicle approaching from behind her. She turned to see Macias at the wheel, driving about 40 miles an hour. She told police he missed her, the 6-year-old and a 1-1/2-year-old toddler, by about six inches. When deputies went to Macias’ trailer, he was detained without incident and was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony making terrorist threats and a probation violation.

In other recent incidents reported to Valley law enforcement:

Wednesday, Dec. 11:

3 p.m. – Fair trade? $30,000 in tools for two car bumpers. About $30,000 worth of tools was stolen from a locked trailer in the 1000 block of Napa Road. The thieves broke the lock to make entry to the trailer and apparently needed to make room in the get-away vehicle because they left two car bumpers behind that weren’t there the day before.

9:40 p.m. – Parking on probation with drugs. Deputies were sent to a motor home that was illegally parked near the intersection of Clyde and Griswold avenues in Kenwood. A deputy recognized the vehicle as one that had recently been parked at a different location. After contacting the couple occupying the motor home, the deputy determined that the man was on probation and therefore conducted a probation search. A glass pipe, commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, was found, complete with drug residue. The 41-year-old Santa Rosa resident was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation. The 42-year-old woman with him was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
