Rarely am I sufficiently moved by a newspaper item to write my thoughts. The Nov. 22 article reporting Logan Dunning’s sentencing of 10 years for the brutal beating of Austin Ridge stimulated this letter.
Quite simply, I am stunned that our society’s representatives deemed a 10-year sentence adequate for a man who had previously been convicted of battery, possessing a deadly weapon and burglary, as well as having been charged with six arson counts. It is outrageous to me that Mr. Dunning will likely serve less than 10 years, and be out on probation to possibly further victimize society.
Although it is politically incorrect, I for one will be happy to support longer prison terms for those in our midst, such as Mr. Dunning.
