Tom Quinn died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2013, at his home in Sonoma, his wife at his side. He was 93. A native of Davenport, Iowa, he was born to Ella and Thomas Quinn on July 26, 1920.
He attended the Davenport schools and went on to Iowa State University where he received his undergraduate degree in pre-med. He continued his studies at Iowa State University School of Medicine, graduating in 1945.
He served in the army as an officer in various army hospitals ending up on detached service in Colon, Panama.

After his discharge in 1948, he decided to specialize in anesthesia, a fairly new specialty for MD’s at the time. He spent two years at Massachusetts General Hospital, one of the teaching hospitals for Harvard Medical School Students.
