Valley Vibes orchestra seeks donations of string instruments

There is currently a waiting list of more than 40 El Verano Elementary School students who want to join the Valley Vibes El-Sistema youth orchestra. Anne Case, director of the program, hopes to soon form a second youth orchestra for at least 20 of these students. In order to do so, she seeks donations of used violins, violas or cellos of any size. Donations can be dropped off at the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation at 17878 Railroad Ave. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Valley Vibes Orchestras is a youth development initiative to help develop skills and community-oriented youth and young adults. Currently 23 El Verano students practice every day after school for two hours, learning the violin, viola or cello in orchestral and sectional classes and they perform frequently in the community. The cost is $35 a year for a student to participate. To learn more, contact Anne Case at 425-773-3408.
