Saturday’s salon day to benefit shelter pets of Pets Lifeline

Greetings Sonoma.

There is never a dull moment here at Pets Lifeline and last week was another seven days of pure excitement. It started a week ago Monday when a young gentleman came to the shelter with nine (NINE!) 2-month-old lab and terrier mix puppies all in one big crate. His mom had found them in a refrigerator box near the Santa Rosa Mall the night before. We were completely full with 13 dogs (our maximum), but we could not turn them away. Two of our smaller dogs had to be roomies for a couple of nights to have an indoor kennel for the pups. The poor little things were very emaciated and dehydrated. We set them up in the kennel with food, water and lots of TLC.

Deanne then vaccinated, gave fluids and they started to settle into their new surroundings. Before we knew it all nine were out like lights. Within a few days, all were acting like real puppies, wagging tails, puppy breath and cuteness beyond belief.

We want to send a huge shout out to our friends at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church for the wonderful volunteers who came out to build our walkway and plant fall flowers. Pastor Rich had a fabulous idea that instead of having services one day, the congregation would go out and help the nonprofits and schools in the community. The day was called, “Don’t Go To Church – Be The Church.” Isn’t that a great concept? Pets Lifeline thanks our group for the super job they did on our project. I love this town.

So how was your week, Sonoma? Hey, have you seen our fall fundraising mailer featuring the little kitty Stanley? The good news is Stanley got adopted. The other good news is that it’s not too late to send your donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated. As a private nonprofit and the only animal shelter in Sonoma Valley, we survive on the donations from generous folks like you.
