Sonoma Overnight Support (SOS) is a Valley nonprofit that offers a variety of programs for those in need, including the Brown Baggers lunches and the Haven, an emergency shelter for those with no place to go.
SOS will host an open house and ice cream social to inform the community about where it is and what it does.
The event takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Haven. The Haven is located at 151 First St. W., in the parking lot of the Sonoma Police Station, next to the dog park.
Working with a meager budget, SOS offers a clean and safe place for those who don’t have a home. It sleeps up to 12 people every night, and provides showers and laundry services for dozens of other people each month. There is almost always more people in need than S.O.S. is able to assist.
During Saturday’s event, SOS staff and board members will share stories about those they’ve helped and give the public a better idea of what it offers the Valley.
